Signal Box: Hobart City Council
Client: Hobart City Council
Brief: Paint an illustration onto a signal box along Davey Street, the main northern artery road into Hobart. The illustration had to reflect the area, and as this is along the docks I chose to represent one of my favourite creatures – the ignoble seagull – and due to proximity to the old IXL Jam Factory, they are fighting over one of Tasmania’s finest products, a delicious cherry. Hobart can go a little grey over Tassie’s long winters, so I deliberately chose a bright summery scene to brighten the street up.
